Steven Levitan is as close to American TV royalty as they come, having been involved in the making of some of the most successful TV comedies of the last three decades. With shows like Frasier, The Larry Sanders Show, Stark Raving Mad, Just Shoot Me!, and last but not least megahit show Modern Family under his belt, Levitan has had a profound influence on the direction of American sitcoms. Levitan started his career as an on-air reporter in Wisconsin and a copy writer in Chicago but moved to Hollywood in 1989. He won his first Primetime Emmy award in 1996 as an executive producer on Frasier. Since then he’s followed it up with no less than eight more Primetime Emmy’s for his work as a creator, writer, producer and director on Modern Family and the show Caught in the Act. He has also won two Humanitas Prize awards for Modern Family, given to writers whose work promotes and encourages human values.
