Experts from across the world have been hand-picked to become part of the Facebook Oversight Board. Twenty experienced professionals have already agreed to participate, and the Board will eventually have 40 members and serve as an export board tasked with staking out the limits for what Facebook can and cannot publish – and why. But what remit have they been given? And how can or will this be enforced in a digital world where algorithms are constantly changing? How is the Board composed, how does it work and what can we actually expect of it?
Facebook has become the world’s most important arena for public debate. No wonder, then, that people are interested in how it operates.
