Amazon Prime Video is turning its focus to the Nordic countries. Based on local production, exclusive content and a user experience adapted to our region, Amazon is now planning to muscle its way into the Nordic streaming market. As a newcomer in an already crowded streaming market dominated by Netflix, HBO and local heavyweights such as NRK, VGTV, TV2 Sumo etc., grabbing our attention should be a tricky and laborious process. Amazon has taken over markets before, however. And so we ask: What are their ambitions now? And how are they going to achieve them? What will characterise Amazon’s content and how will the streaming service stand out from its competitors? How much freedom will showrunners be given? And how will Amazon collaborate with local production companies?
Georgia Brown is Director of European Originals at Amazon Studios and responsible for Amazon’s original content in Europe. We can look forward to learning more about what to expect, when she visits Nordic Media Days.
