Visual Storytelling Consultant
Kerri MacDonald is a New York-based creative consultant working on Instagram-based projects. She was the first Social Photo Editor for The New York Times, where she worked from 2009 to 2018. In 2015 she launched @nytimes on Instagram and began overseeing the publication's presence across the platform, working with journalists worldwide on experimental off-platform storytelling. She collaborated on award-winning visual projects and found innovative ways to share photos across social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. Kerri's writing on photography has been published in many sections of The Times — primarily on the Lens blog, where she was the first producer. She lectures often about the intersection of social media and photography. She studied English at Queen’s University in Canada and received her master's degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in New York. In 2018 she attended the Women's Leadership Program at Yale University. Kerri grew up in Canada, lived in England and Hong Kong, and now calls Brooklyn home. She's probably following you on Instagram.
